Luleå
University of Technology (LTU) is a research-intensive university in northern
Sweden known for strong industry collaboration and applied research. The
Division of Urban Water Engineering, within the Department of Civil,
Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering, focuses on sustainable water
and wastewater systems, with particular emphasis on stormwater management,
nature-based solutions, pollutant transport and treatment, integrating
laboratory and field studies to support resilient urban environments.
Postdoc. Ivan
Milovanović
Dr. Ivan
Milovanović is a researcher at Luleå University
of Technology specializing in urban stormwater management. His work integrates
laboratory experiments, field studies, and system-scale analysis to improve and
standardize treatment technologies. In this project, Ivan serves as LTU
coordinator and works with green roof performance modelling and substrate
optimisation.
Prof.
Godecke-Tobias Blecken
Professor
Godecke Blecken focuses on urban stormwater management, with extensive research
on blue-green infrastructure such as bioretention, permeable pavements,
infiltration systems, ponds, wetlands, green roofs, and compact treatment
devices. In this project, he will lead green roof modelling and contribute to
public participation and legislative aspects supporting their implementation.
Prof. Maria Viklander
Professor Maria Viklander is Chair Professor in Urban Water Engineering at LTU, leading research in sustainable urban water systems. Her transdisciplinary work, conducted with key stakeholders, addresses stormwater quality, treatment, and integration of green infrastructure into urban planning. She will promote knowledge exchange and implementation of project results.
